From a Sergeant in Southeastern US
I am a sergeant employed by a large law enforcement agency in the Southeast United States.
Here is one of those incidents I can recall where I was thankful for this product. I was assigned the midnight shift on Easter weekend. A group of thugs were randomly targeting upper class homes in a series of home invasions and car-jackings. The three perps would hide in the bushes of homes late at night waiting for the owners to come home. The perps would attack the victims as they opened their front doors and garages. These incidents occurred on both Friday and Saturday nights and we were unsuccessful in apprehending them. It was Easter Sunday when we received a 911 call from another victim attacked in their driveway. I was the first on the scene and immediately had responding units secure the only two possible escape routes in this gated community.
I found an elderly victim bloodied and beaten, lying in her own driveway with a second victim found conscious, bleeding from the head, on his kitchen floor. The elderly victim in the kitchen managed to crawl to the telephone after he was struck in the head with the perps’ shotgun. While standing near my unit, the suspect vehicle sped by, nearly striking me. The perps crashed their vehicle (stolen from the previous night) in a yard and fled on foot. I was close on their heels. I targeted the perp who was carrying the shotgun. We ran for nearly five hundred yards over fences and through back yards. Suddenly, the perp stopped and turned on me with the shotgun. I dove to the ground and activated my LaserMax sight directly on his middle torso area. He saw the red dot pulsating on his chest and immediately, without hesitation, dropped his weapon. I ordered him to the ground and handcuffed him. Because of this apprehension, we were able to capture the other two perps in due time. This is one of many high incident calls where the LaserMax sight has benefited in my chosen line of work. I am a strong believer in this product and would recommend it to any officer who works night shift in high crime areas.
